Patrick received his law degree from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in 1993. Patrick and Steve Mensing were law school classmates and have known each other since 1990. Patrick clerked for a firm in Portland, Oregon while in law school, and then worked as an associate before opening his own practice in 1994. Patrick moved his practice to Bend, Oregon in 1996 and eventually formed Widmer Mensing Law Group, LLP with Steve Mensing in 2005.
Patrick has lived in Oregon most of his life. He grew up in Medford, hearing stories about Central Oregon from his grandparents who were sheep ranchers in the early days of Bend when the lumber mills were the major employer. Now, Patrick runs, bikes, and skis over the same land where his grandparents ran sheep. Bend is quite a bit bigger than back in the early days, but the reasons people live here are the same - quality of life, nature, and a community of caring citizens.
